How I price my toys ....

.....I thought I would share with you today how I price my knitted Monsters.
I spent a long time researching how to price them and looking at how much other people charge for their toys (which are often not CE tested which they should be!)
Pricing ingredients: Cost of the products: wool, stuffing Use of equipment & other: Knitting needles, scissors, electricity for lights  My time: Designing the toy, knitting the toy, testing the toy CE Test: Making sure my toy is to CE standards
Now you have to decided how much you want to pay yourself an hour and any extra profit
How much do you get paid an hour? Shall we say minimum wage £7.50 per hour
The largest toy I make is Pookiechu (the pink one) she takes me 16 hours to make 16 x 7.50 = 120
so that makes Pookiechu £120 before I've even added on the cost of any wool etc!
I therefore decided to pay myself a lot less and she became £65 However even though I know you are paying for a quality toy made with quality products and to the CE stand…

Crafting is my therapy. What's yours?

I suffer with chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety and depression. Together they can make me a very fatigued, emotional, angry, withdrawn person. I over do things because keeping busy takes me away from the anxiety and depression, but the truth is all I am doing is running straight into the arms of my fatigue monster when I do it! This picture is something I thought of the other day to explain this feeling.
I try to meditate and I am starting to do small amounts of stretching and yoga, but the one thing that helps keep relaxed and sane, and has done for many years now is my crafting. I love all kinds of crafts. My latest makes are my CE tested Sensory Monsters "The Peepos" they are great to touch and cuddle when you're feeling blue.
I have also found my online friends in the crafting communities and chronic fatigue groups very helpful and comforting. Stops you feeling so isolated.
Something that brings me happiness is helping others which I hope to do with my sensory to…

Buttons Picture Gift

This week Murphy's friend's little sister turned one and I decided I would have a go at a buttons picture as a present for her. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Very pretty for a very pretty little girly. She's my little smiley buddy when I do the school run. No matter how I feel she makes me smile.
If you would like to order a picture gift please contact me for more details

Last week we were at a friend's Wedding reception.  I wanted to make them a gift and had the idea of using this new image from Make it Crafty. I'm really loving this image. It's so fun and can be personalised too. This is a 6x6" box frame, so the image is slightly less than that. Wedding picture gifts are £7.00 plus postage or free to collect from me

Here is a card I made with the same image today for a custom order. This is a 6x6" card £2.50 plus p&p or free to collect from me

Sneaky peak!

Today I've been working on my CE tested knitted toys files to get them ready to be put up for sale. Not long now!

On your Wedding Day...

I'm hoping this post has worked because I am actually writing it yesterday (Monday) and have (I hope) set it up to post itself tomorrow (Tuesday!) I will be out at my Fatigue clinic appointment and doing a bit more to my Wall Mural.
Andi (Hubby) and I are invited to a Wedding in July and I have been super organised .....what....organised....yes I know don't freak out!!
I made this card whilst hubby and Murphy were out at the weekend giving me sometime to chill out and craft....oh and sunbathe!
Its one of the lovely Lili of the Valley stamps which I just adore. The stamped pattern is a Stampin Up roller I've had years and barely used! I have coloured the image using promarkers and kept is quite simple.
Really loving it and so are other people as I have an order for one!
Happy Tuesday (I hope!)

Keeping in the Father theme today....

This morning whilst having my relaxation time after the school run I watched a video of Zoe from Make it Crafty colouring this image (which is free until 21st June on Make it Crafty Facebook group) She set a challenge whilst colouring to colour texture/pattern. I decided to have a go with my spectrum aqua pens for this challenge and I am rather chuffed with the end result especially as I am really new to these pens still.
Stay cool!

Father's day special

Hi, I hope you all enjoyed the very sunny weekend and had a great Father's day. Here's a card I made for my Dad. The image is one of my own which you can buy  HERE Truth be told I actually made the card a while ago but never had a use for it as it had other sentiments on it. I found these air force type ones in some stash a friend gave me so I changed it around and hey presto a perfect father's day card πŸ˜‰
Have a lovely Monday & don't forget the sun cream Helen  xx

A Summer theme

My crafting mojo was in need of a little inspiration this afternoon so I went on a little blog snoop over at Lili of the Valley I love their images and already had this one coloured up.  I noticed they have a June challenge with a "Summer" theme so decided to have a play and this is what I came up with. Not bad considering my card making mojo is about 4 years out since having Murphy!!
Happy Monday Helen  xxx

Work in Progress Wall Mural

What started as a conversation on Facebook with someone I didn't know quickly became an idea and quick sketch!

She was already super happy with the idea so I added a little colour and arranged to go meet her and see "The Wall"

I took Murphy with me as you can see! He was a really good boy while Mummy did a bit of sketching out on the wall to see how it would plan out.....and actually it was perfect for my original plan!

The next visit I went alone (Murphy was at school) and I started to get the paints out, and this is how far I have gotten so far. Not much left to do now. Mostly filling in now. Very exciting watching it come together and I've enjoyed it immensely.

I will keep showing the progress and the finished Wall so keep watching out here or on social media. Have a great day Helen xxx
